Alicia Keys recently announced the launch of her brand new website IAAS.com (I Am A Superwoman) -- a project targeting the modern woman -- and now the R&B singer is on the hunt for a head blogger.
The songstress has teamed with Monster.com to launch a blogger search in an attempt to find the ideal candidate to steer the new site. The search has already begun and ends on May 6. Keys issued a statement this week describing her vision for the new blog.
"With IAAS.com, I'll be displaying my 'voice' in a different way and need just the right person to help me express a point of view that I don't think exists yet in the blog world," she said. In addition to basic requirements, which include a valid passport and a knowledge of pop culture, Key's ideal employee will be expected to create a "fun, inspiring online neighborhood for super women to check in with what other super women are thinking, doing, feeling, working on, eating, buying, wearing and laughing about, and to prompt discussions on things the modern super woman cares about."
The new head blogger for Key's IAAS.com will be announced on national television during the week of June 21. Visit IAAS.com for more information. Alicia Keys is currently performing U.S. dates on her 'Freedom' tour behind her fourth studio album, 'The Element of Freedom.'
Thandie Newton has made a big move. She’s just been named the new face of Oil of Olay’s Total Effects skincare line. Here’s what she had to say recently about the brand:
“When filming, my working day is hectic, so trying to strike a balance between work, a family and time for myself can be challenging. I love that the range offers me an all-in-one, anti-aging moisturizer which takes care of all of my skincare needs.”
These ladies are gettin it in! They look fierce and fabulous in this video for Rasheeda's new song "Don't Let Him Get Away" featuring Cherish! MEEEOOOW!
Kelly Rowland needs to take notes! Trey Songz bringing back past fashion (the right way), posing as a bop & blues singer for the new issue of Complex Magazine! On the way to pick up our copy right now! We love it! MEEEOOOOW
What do you think of Kelly Rowland's 1980's half see-through sequenced leotard? I think it had the potential to be cute...if it had been designed differently. Anywho, she kinda looks like a drag queen! MEEEEEOOWWW

"A black market butt enhancement practitioner in New Jersey is reportedly injecting women's backsides with household caulk. In the last two months, six women have been hospitalized after being injected with the silicone, commonly used around the bathtub. Hospital workers say instead of resembling Kim Kardashian or J-Lo, the women's derrieres looked like they were filled with lumps and craters." - Boston News
Sherri Shepherd: Grade C. Sherri looks ok, but it's nothing spectacular for such a fabulous night!
Paula Patton: Grade B+. She's glowing and looks adorable in her off-shoulder dress. Paula makes "expecting" fashionable!
Tyler Perry: Grade A. Tyler looks debonair...enough said.
Nicole Richie: Grade B-. This dress works for her and her bohemian style, but overall I'm not fond of the dress!
Zoe Kravitz: Grade C. It's not like the dress is ugly, but in "real life" she has such a unique fashion sense and I don't feel like the dress reflects that. The girl is funky, but this dress is blah! Stay true to yourself Zoe!
Lenny Kravitz: Grade A+. He looks handsome...edible almost!
Gabourey Sidibe: Grade A. I think she looks cute and flitry but is still appropriately dressed for the ambiance of the event! Good job!
Mo'Nique: Grade A. I love Mo'Nique and her man...they make a good-looking couple! Although I would have loved to see something a little bolder on her, I think she looks glamorous and perfect for the night! And her husband ain't a bad accessory either!
Jennifer Lopez: Grade B+: I looooooooveeee her dress! J. Lo shines in it! She's just short of an "A" though and that's due to her slightly messy hair. it's take away from the elegance of the dress.
Miley Cyrus: Grade A. For her age, Miley's dress is pretty appropriate. I think she looks great!
Zoe Saldana: Grade C. Hmmmm, not a big fan of the skirt. Maybe if she wore it with something other than the sequenced top and those chunky heels. I think she wanted to be HAUTE COUTURE, but I think she's more of a HOT MESS!
Mariah Carey: Grade C+. I just think Mariah is among the style-challenged! She never seems to get it right, sometimes she's all off, sometimes she's close... This time, she almost had it, but the dress seems to be ill-fitting on her frame and looks slightly too small!
Mo'Nique won the best supporting actress Oscar on Sunday for her role as an abusive mother in "Precious," claiming her first Academy Award.
The actress had been considered the favorite to win, having racked up a slew of critics' choice, festival and guild awards for her role in the independent film.
Her chilling portrayal of Mary, a verbally, physically and sexually abusive mother to the title character, had an intensity unmatched by any of the other nominees, who were Penelope Cruz in "Nine," Maggie Gyllenhaal in "Crazy Heart," and Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick in "Up in the Air."
Mo'Nique accepted her statuette to a standing ovation.
"I would like to thank the Academy for showing that it can be about the performance and not the politics," she said with emotion. "To my amazing husband, Sidney -- thank you for showing me that sometimes you have to forego doing what's popular, in order to do what's right."
The newly crowned winner, whose real name is Monique Imes, was up until now largely known for her work as a comedian on the stand-up circuit as well as the UPN television series "The Parkers," and films including "Phat Girlz" and "Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins." Last fall, she debuted her own late-night talk show on cable channel BET, "The Mo'Nique Show."
"Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire" is the actress' second pairing with filmmaker Lee Daniels, who first cast her in his directorial debut in 2005's "Shadowboxer," alongside fellow Oscar nominee, Helen Mirren.
Mo'Nique joins only a few black actresses to get an Oscar. Hattie McDaniel claimed best supporting actress in 1939's "Gone with the Wind," Whoopi Goldberg won best supporting actress for 1990's "Ghost," Halle Berry took best actress for 2001's "Monster's Ball" and Jennifer Hudson got best supporting actress for 2006's "Dreamgirls."
Mo'Nique said last year at the Sundance Film Festival that the sexual abuse her character displays in "Precious" is not completely foreign to her, as she described her own experience as the victim of childhood molestation.
Nicki Minaj is very popular these days as the Young Money diva has been tapped to host this year's annual Rip The Runway special on BET alongside Pooch Hall, most known for his role as “Derwin Davis” on the TV show The Game.
The special, now in its sixth year, celebrates the connection between urban music and high end fashion.
This year's Rip The Runway is set to be taped this Saturday, February 27 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.
The fashion showcase will also feature musical performances by Ludacris, B.O.B., Soulja Boy, Roscoe Dash, Janelle Monae and London bred R&B artist Estelle.
There is always a lot of talk about the lacefront wigs. I'm always seeing them everywhere I go and truthfully they are not impressing! I understand Beyonce and other celebs have been wearing them for years but since they've been popping in the black community lately they look like glued on helmets. Would you rock a lacefront?
R&B superstar Alicia Keys has been added to the headline roster for this year's Essence Music Festival in New Orleans. Keys will join Mary J. Blige, Gladys Knight, Keri Hilson, Jill Scott, Raphael Saadiq, Charlie Wilson, Earth, Wind and Fire and others performing at the Louisiana Superdome July 2-4.
The festival began in 1995 to mark the 25th anniversary of Essence magazine. Last year, the event marked its 15th anniversary with a record-breaking 428,000 attendees. Besides music, the festival includes free motivational and self-improvement seminars and is billed as one of the largest events in America that celebrates black music and culture.
This will be Keys' third time performing. Other 2010 acts include De La Soul, Chrisette Michele, Joe, Laura Izibor and Melanie Fiona. Louisiana acts will include Irma Thomas, Irvin Mayfield, Ivan Neville, Kermit Ruffins and Little Freddie King.
Men are different than women even when it comes to like ...women. According to a women poll, Beyonce Knowles is the sexiest woman alive, while a similar men poll designed Megan Fox on the first position.
So if asked, nineteen percent of men would like to share their lives (but mostly their beds) with 'Transformers' actress, Megan Fox.
According to Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, Beyonce had won the best body in female's survey, but the Hollywood actress Megan was voted as the hottest in males survey report.
Fortunately, the poll wasn't about knowledge (just a little bit about Knowles though).
Fantasia Barrino is under a self-imposed lockdown -- after the "American Idol" champ received a threatening letter.
It all started last night at the Pantages Theater in L.A. -- Fantasia was reading her fan mail after a performance of "The Color Purple."
Fantasia's manager tells us Barrino became alarmed over a disturbing letter loaded with racial slurs -- including the n-word -- and a line that read, "go back where you came from and die."
We're told the person who wrote the letter claims he used to work as a security guard for Fox while Fantasia was on "A.I."
Fantasia's manager tells us the singer immediately contacted theater security -- which then contacted the LAPD.
In the meantime, we're told the theater has "beefed up" security around Fantasia -- and all over the venue -- and will be screening anything sent to Barrino's dressing room before it gets to her.
Fantasia tells TMZ, "I will not be defeated by one isolated person's hatred."
