2013 has definitely been the year of bright and bold colors, however, classic white and black seems to have been a big hit on last nights' red carpet.
While white is considered a "safe" color because of its classy, chic, and sophisticated feel, celebs and stylists last night took white to the next level and beyond. From the ever so stunning Mariah Carey in her white, jewel embellished Povani gown by Mikael D. to Janelle Monae's oh so sleek white Dolce & Gabbana pantsuit, they hit the ball right out of the park.
Though the white theme seemed to take precedence there were also many stars that opted for colored ensembles. Notable were Gabrielle Union, who's red Zac Posen dress was snatched right from the runway. Another straight from the runway look was worn by Amber Rose in a yellow and black Peplum Versace number. K. Michelle rocked a pink pantsuit with an open blazer that showed a good bit of skin.
Speaking of skin, there was plenty of eye popping and jaw dropping fashion for the masses. From the controversial electric blue, chest baring dress worn by Ms. Meagan Goode to Ciara sporting a new 'do' with her black leather pencil skirt with a matching bra top, showing off those toned abs and all.
The fellas got it in as well. J. Cole, DJ Drama, and Brandon T. Jackson obviously had the same idea because the three of them rocked the same Versace shirt paired with black pants. Host Chris Tucker had several wardrobe changes but kept it authentic on the red carpet with a white suit, black and white shirt and white sneakers. Mr. 106 & Park himself, Bow weezy, kept it classy with a black vest, pants, and bow tie, and white shirt, topped off with black rimmed spectacles. And Jaime Foxx added a little color for the men by rocking a plum suit with a matching plum shirt and tie, before the wardrobe change, however, Jaime Foxx showed his support once again for slain teenager Trayvon Martin, donning white pants and white t-shirt with Trayvon's face outlined in black.
All in all the "Anything Can Happen" 2013 BET Awards didn't shock us too bad, (with the fashion that is). Young and old alike were dressed to impress. While some glam squads and stylists clearly needed to go back to the drawing board, for the most part, they got it just right and blazed the red carpet once again and put another awards show in the books.
