2014 MET BALL: FASHION WRAP UP

Last night's Met Ball is still the talk entertainment news and social media. This annual costume ball is a fashion extravaganza. When the stars arrived, they exploded on the fashion scene, from singer Rihanna's midriff bearing white dress to fashion guru and stylist's to the stars, June Ambrose scantly clad get up.

This star studded event blew the roof off of New York's fashion world. The Met Gala is known for it's outlandish outfits but this year, I think that the stars that attended created more of a buzz than the fashion; Or maybe they were running neck and neck. But, nevertheless, this event was the most talked about event since the Oscars.

There were, however, some stars and stylists that did not get it right. Lupita Nyongo stated, "This outfit looked differently on the rack than it did on paper". Admittedly, she was the fashion VIP for this years' award season, so I personally was very taken aback by this not so fashionable ensemble. There were many more without mention that just did not bring their 'A' game.

The celeb power couples were also out in full force. From Jay-Z and Beyonce' rocking Givenchy to Kanye West and Kim Kardashian blazing the red carpet in Lavin. Other couples that graced the red carpet with fashion perfection, was David and Victoria Beckham as well as Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield. All of these lovely couples, their glam squads, stylists, and designers were most definitely on point at this fashion exhibition.

To say that the 2014 Met Ball was an epic success is an understatement. The celebs came dressed to impress and set the Big Apple on fire. I am anxiously awaiting to see if next year's gala can top this one.

PAINTED!: Spring 2014 Nail Trends

The spring fashion and style season is already upon us and the break out nail trends have already surfaced.

During both New York and Paris' Fashion weeks the models surprised us all as they blazed the runways with unique fashion pieces, accessorized by phenomenal nail designs.

The half moon nail design was a big hit during the 2014 spring/summer fashion previews; And it is most definitely gaining even more momentum in the world of style, right now.

Also topping the 2014 nail trend charts were the window pain design and caviar beads.

Just as with the top spring fashion color trends; metallics, nudes, and pastels have made their way onto the nails and have simply exploded. Blazing this trail right along with the above colors are the darker hues, such as blacks, dark cherry, and indigo.

The talon nail trend from the 2012-2013 spring seasons, have been shaped, filed, and are now even longer and sharper than ever before. So much so, that they are now known as the 'stiletto nail'.

Tribal designs, mosaic, and polish layering are very popular this year as well. Confetti nails are another festive yet sophisticated nail trend that will really spice up your spring ensembles; especially for prom.

So, whether you are looking to have glammed up, superstar, runway/red carpet nails or if you just want the solid more toned down look; you will definitely find what you are looking for in the diversity of this springs' nail trends.

AWARDS SEASON IS A WRAP: The Oscars

And just like that awards season has wrapped. The laughter has stopped and parties shut down, it's back to what the stars consider "normal" life. Not, though,  without the lingering talk of host Ellen DeGeneres' jokes, pizza ordering, and the ultimate selfie that broke twitter for about 20 minutes.

The Oscars had an amazing and groundbreaking night. Not only with the montage and flubbed teleprompter mishaps and name mispronunciation, but the red carpet was red hot!

Nudes, neutrals, pastels, and metallics was the top color choice on the Oscars red carpet.

The fellas were also rocking the neutral as well. E! Network's Ryan Seacrest and Oscar winner, Jared Leto looked very dapper in their cream and white tuxedos.

Of course, no awards show is complete without fashion mishaps, but overall the glam squads did a bang up job on their respective clients.

Also, a designer that debuted her line at Charlotte Fashion Week, Nicci Hou, made her mark on the Oscars fashion party scene by way of Disney star Zendaya Coleman. What a fabulous choice of wardrobe indeed. The outfit was truly astonishing.

No awards show this season is complete without mentioning Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o. She was absolutely stunning in her Nairobi Blue Cinderella ball gown, perfect makeup, and blinding smile. She has taken the red carpet by storm and has blown our minds with each and every fashion choice that she's made.

Designers definitely stepped up their game and pulled out all of the stops to simply bomb the red carpet with their awesome fashion and style. Dior, Alexander McQueen, and Prada were just a few of the designers that most assuredly got it right last night.

Kerry Washington and Olivia Wilde were also glowing on the red carpet sporting their baby bumps. And they did so in 6 inch heels. Way to go mommies-to-be, you rocked.

Other notable red carpet stunners were, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Jennifer Garner, Penelope Cruz, and the list goes on and on. Their glam squads should take a bow because they really did their thing with each and every one of these ladies.

Though the 'awards season' has wrapped, the fashion and style moves on. The creativity and desire to be bigger and better and debut the next big thing will keep the designers and celebs alike on their pampered tippy toes.
