HITS & MISSES: The Met Gala 2013 Red Carpet

The Met Gala or Ball is a themed annual celebration of the Metropolitan Museum's fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute. This years theme was punk couture.

The stars were out in full force in support of the fashion gala and channeled their inner punk. Many stylist and glam squads got it totally right but some went horribly wrong.

There were those, from Sarah Jessica Parker to Nicole Richie that were in full punk get up. While others like Katie Holmes and Heidi Klum that opted for just the couture part of the gala.

Notable celebs that blazed the red carpet were Beyoncé with her black, gold and orange embellished custom made Givenchy gown with matching boots.

Blake Lively was simply stunning in her Gucci Première pale green silk dress.

Anne Hathaway wowed us with her sheer black vintage Valentino gown and she did not disappoint as she graced the red carpet.

And who can forget Ms. Kerry Washington who definitely rocked in her purple and inky blue Vera Wang gown. She even adorned her hair with purple streaks to honor miss Wang's amazing gown while giving herself that edgy punk look which was the theme of the night.

Now for a few that didn't even spark the red carpet and just downright disgraced it, were Ms. Kimye aka Kim Kardashian. Her floral print Riccardo Tisci gown with matching armpit length gloves and thigh high split was a no go for fashion and style critics.

Another fashion disaster on the red carpet was Madonna. You would think that she knows how to rock punk couture by now as she's a veteran in that department but she bombed this red carpet with her ripped tights, embellished jacket and hot pink shoes. Clearly, this outfit wasn't well thought out at all!

Last but certainly not least, we have double red carpet offenders, the Olsen twins. Mary Kate donned the red carpet in a navy blue gown with a yellow coat with fur cuffs and neckline. Which was a definite fashion faux pas. While sister Ashley decided that it was perfectly ok to wear an orange parachute inspired ensemble to this annual star studded gala. She most definitely got wrong!

Even though some didn't quite get it right on the red carpet while others lit it up, the celebs came out in droves, and made this years Met Gala a night to remember.
