INTERVIEW: Ice Creme Beauty Bar With Octavia Coleman

So many women have made the decision to go natural, via the "big chop" or "grew out the chemicals", yet they struggle to find a stylist that truly understands the makeup of their hair and add little to helping them maintain their natural locks.

To shed light on this subject, I sat down with Octavia Coleman natural hairstylist and owner of Ice Creme Beauty.  While we were able to discuss the natural hair "trend" and products, I also had the chance to get to know Mrs. Octavia on a more personal level. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.

What's Hot & What's Not...NYFW 2013

There have been a lot of new pieces and colors that have made it to this years' runway and even more classic designs with a new twist to them. The question is, however, what pieces do the stars and stylist think will make it to the red carpet and what pieces are best left on the runway?

Let's take a look at some of the designs and pieces that are red carpet HOT!

New York Fashion Week is well underway. While a number of designers made a repeat appearance such as J. Crew, Betsy Johnson, and Ralph Lauren, there were newcomers that made it to the list of designers to watch such as Josep Font, Simone Rocha, and Thomas Tait just to name a few.

What's The SHIMMER All About?!!

Shimmer, Shimmer, Shimmer!! We've seen it on the eyes, lips, and nails of our favorite stars and is already gearing up for this Spring's hottest new looks. Are you ready for the shimmer? How much shimmer is too much shimmer? And can I wear it everyday?

Ladies, as the spring season is almost upon us, we are seeing that sparkle and glitter  aren't only for the runway and red carpet. You can get the same looks as your famous counterparts for a fraction of the cost. Shimmer is also one of those things that you can dress up or down. Add a lot of shimmer and glitter for a glamorous night on the town with the hubby or formal, black tie events; Scale back the shimmer for a casual evening with friends or movie night.  Yes, shimmer or glitter can be worn daily. It can be worn to work, however not as you would at a fine dining restaurant. Running errands or taking kids to school, never fear there's a shimmer lipgloss or lipstick that can make your run of the mill, everyday outfit POP.

Take a look at the many ways to glitter and shimmer it up!

Will dreads "CUT IT" in the corporate industry?

Guys who ROCK dreads can be respected in the Corporate market!  You must own your look and your position in ANYTHING in life, so don't let anyone tell you, you can't wear your hair a certain way because you are a "different" type of man in a "different" type of setting! When you are clean cut, well dressed and PROFESSIONAL in all you do, I can almost guarantee you....NO ONE WILL DENY YOU and if they do....they don't deserve your expertise anyhow! Stay true to yourself and the blessings that are YOURS will remain.....YOURS!
