HIGH DEFINITION: Take A Brow

In a world full of HD TV and HD movies, HD eyebrows have now burst on the scene as one the newest beauty trend to come to the US and has blown the simple but elegant arched brow right out of the water.

England, Canada, Scotland, France, Ireland, and Spain have all incorporated the HD brow treatment into their beauty regimen for quite some time now. The US is now on board and it has simply exploded on the red carpet and beyond.

Though the 7 step process to achieve the HD brow may be tedious and a tiny bit painful, there's no denying that your eyebrows will truly POP afterward. By the way, if you think that tweezing, waxing, and threading are over, think again! All three of those are included in the 7 method brow technique, along with tinting, clipping, dusting with mineral powder, and filling in the brow with an eyebrow pencil.

TKHC: What inspired you to become a clothing designer?

DKC: I have always been into art and design. From high school into college design has just been something that I can use to relax. Whether it is for canvas or a t-shirt, it is a way I can chill out and clear my head. So when I realized that I could create a company that would allow me to design everyday and my job could become my passion, I decided that this is what I wanted to do.

TKHC: What inspires your designs?

DKC: Culture would be the biggest thing. The more art, design, and overall human culture you see the wider your pallet is when you sit down and create. I have had the blessing to travel to other countries and take in the traditional art first hand, and I think that is what has led to where I am as a designer today. The more art and design you allow yourself to be exposed to the more your design will grow. I think that this applies to any profession or passion.

VIDEO: Ryan Jorel's Style Showcase

I had the pleasure of attending celebrity stylist Ryan Jorel’s Style Showcase on Friday in Charlotte, NC. The event was dope! In addition to vendors, the show featured Grammy-Nominated singer Alvin Garrett from Birmingham, AL. Each of the stylists that participated in the showcase were given a theme and had to style their models to fit it. It pushed them to step outside of the box and be creative!  ThisKittenHasClaws' very own blogger/fashionista Cushena Sheree was featured in the show! OSCARS 2013: Red Carpet, Red Hot

The Oscars are officially over, the awards have been given and the fashion critics have spoken! Last night the red carpet was set a blaze with flowing dresses, fabulous hairstyles, and faces beat to the gods.

Though there were several fashion faux pas, there were many glam squads that got it right. The designers turned up the heat and the stars took the bait. Dresses were fit to a tee, accentuated by dazzling jewelry, and eye popping stilettos, that had the fashion critics, stylist, and the audience in awe their beauty.

INTERVIEW: Ice Creme Beauty Bar With Octavia Coleman

So many women have made the decision to go natural, via the "big chop" or "grew out the chemicals", yet they struggle to find a stylist that truly understands the makeup of their hair and add little to helping them maintain their natural locks.

To shed light on this subject, I sat down with Octavia Coleman natural hairstylist and owner of Ice Creme Beauty.  While we were able to discuss the natural hair "trend" and products, I also had the chance to get to know Mrs. Octavia on a more personal level. MINT TO BE: One Of The Colors Setting Spring On Fire

 

One of the hottest colors making a big splash this spring is cool mint!  Mint is such a great color, even though it has personality, it's almost like a nuetral.  You can pair mint with dark brown for a more subdued look or electric blue if you want to be loud!  I'm all for color blocking, my only warning for mint is don't go with too many pastel colors...or risk looking like an Easter egg!  Check out some mint fashions for more inspiration!

Heart Truth Red Dress Autumn/Winter 2013-14 Fashion Show

Celebrities kicked off the start of New York Fashion Week with walking down the runway at The Truth Red Dress Collection fashion show. The show was hosted by the National Institutes of Health.The all-star annual runway show promotes heart health awareness among women. Some of the celebrities that strutted down the runway were Toni Braxton, Wendy Williams, Kelly Osbourne and Gabrielle Douglas.

Fuchsia is hands down one of my favorite colors.  I honestly have no idea whether it is going to be "the hottest color of Spring," I just know I love it!  Fuchsia is one of those colors that is bold and bright, but still plays well with others.  I love to color block fuchsia with a variety of colors, I personally think it goes well with cobalt Blue, bright yellow, black & white, purple, teal, brown...well almost every color, including orange!
